Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a streaming service on your site to see the videos or just the option to download?

I don’t currently offer a streaming or browser experience. The product is a series of zip files containing .mov and .mp4 files. QuickTime or VLC is recommend for optimal viewing.

What am I actually purchasing with Endless Reference?

There are 2 products available to purchase, these are:

1. The body Mechanics collection, and

2. Fight reference collection.

Upon purchase, you will receive the links to download each category for the chosen collection. I recommend you save these into a folder labeled the name of the collection (body mechanics) this will then give you a well organised reference collection. You can see an example of the folder structure on our website under the title “what you get”.

What happens when you add more videos to each collection? I will have to buy everything again?

Any new references will be released as a new collection and sold separately. If the package that you purchased gets updated then you will receive a download link with the new content but this doesn’t happen very often.

How will Endless Reference help me to animate faster?

Placing an image sequence onto a designated reference plane within Maya. From here you can begin to mark out your keyposes, having the reference footage right there inside your scene saving countless hours of toggling back and fourth between your viewer and your animation software.

How will Endless Reference help me to animate more accurately?

Using the process above not only saves you time but you will have increased accuracy as you line up your character rig to closely match the reference. Keep in mind this is only a starting point you must still apply the principals of animation.

If you are looking for a tutorial to help you create a video plane in Maya you can check out On Mars 3D’s tutorial How To Setup Planes and video reference in Maya  While you’re at it why not check out Aunmar’s website www.onmars3d.com for more amazing resources.

Why are there grids on the videos?

The grids are useful to artists using the reference motion study, it breaks down the space in order to analyse  finer detail.

What is the purpose of slow motion clips?

Some animators enjoy watching the clips in slow motion to gain more insight into follow through actions and secondary motion.

I purchased the Reference Library PREMIUM last year, should I purchase the body Mechanics collection too?

Not at all, we have simply renamed the Reference Library PREMIUM to the Body Mechanics collection. We felt that the name Body Mechanics was more relevant to the content.

I have accidently deleted some files from my hardrive and lost part of my Endless Reference collection, will I need to re-purchase the set again?

I will have your order on file, please email with a request and the email address that you used to make the purchase and I will organise for you to receive a new set of download links.

My download links have expired and i still have some files left to download.

It’s no problem, just send us a message requesing more time, we will renew your links.
